She Said 'Yes': Kevin & Catherine
Kevin & Catherine
The day after Valentine's Day can leave many of us with a Love Hangover... So, we have been saving this goody to remedy all the feelings that came and went with the passing of Valentine's Day.
Does Anything say "Love" quite like rose petals and a romantic proposal?
It is official, we are obsessed with our customers! These two high school sweethearts turned long distance love birds will make your heart melt. Meet Kevin and Catherine.
In His Words:
Catherine and I have dated since our Junior year in high school - a little over 5 years. I'd known for a while now she's the one, but living out in Maryland while she stayed in Texas made things tough. We were both at home in San Antonio during the Christmas holidays and, after many hours in prayer, the timing felt right. We were walking around the Pearl Brewery area near downtown when I convinced her to go to the top floor of a building to checkout the sunset. Once there, I convinced her we should try and get on top of the roof above us for a better view. With the help of a ladder my brother had staged (along with the set up shown), we were able to get on top of the roof. Once she saw, she knew. At the center of the two stools is a cross I made her as a Christmas present during our first Christmas together - I want that to be the center of our relationship so I made sure I was able to get that there. We write letter in a journal that we mail back and forth so I wrote her a letter in the journal and had her read it once we sat down. By the time she looked up, I had got down on one knee. Don't really remember the rest, I think I sort of blacked out! But she said yes, some tears were shed, and then we met friends in family afterwards for a little party.
Why we Love it:
Kevin nailed the blending of adventure and sentiment in his proposal. The roof top alone was a huge win but the added details make it truly perfect. Marriage is not always only about the two people in the relationship. Families and beliefs play a huge role in the success of a partnership. Kevin brought both of those to his romantic escape within their home city. He trusted and relied on his brother to stage everything and he brought their shared religious beliefs to the start of their whole new life and adventure together. Also, they mail a jornal back and forth full of love letters!!!!! How amazing is that???
DOUBLE BONUS: Kevin made his own ring box with wood Catherine brought back from another country!
Or as Kevin casually says,
"She served at a Young Life camp in the Dominican Republic last summer and brought me back a piece of wood (I've done carpentry on the side for a little over 10 years). Little did she know I took that wood and made it into the box I used to propose! All went well and she loves the ring."
