Greetings Parents of the USNA Class of 2026,
Your Midshipman will soon make the most important jewelry purchase of his or her life! For decades, Zachary’s has provided fine gemstones for USNA class rings, and over the years, we have met thousands of parents. We know how proud you are and want the best for your Midshipman.
We have family ties to the Naval Academy and consider serving the needs of your family an honor and a privilege. Sometimes the process of ordering the rings can be overwhelming in the two days allotted by the ring company, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve done this for years and not only know exactly how to make it easy & effortless, but also meaningful. We will be showcasing our gemstones on the yard at the Mid Store and at Zachary’s.
We invite parents to be part of the process. If you will not be in the area, we welcome virtual appointments as well. Your Midshipman represents the best in America. They deserve the right to select the best for their United States Naval Academy class ring.
Sincerely,
Steve Samaras

1.Why should I choose Zachary’s Jewelers for my class ring gemstones?
Zachary’s Jewelers specializes in sourcing and setting high-quality gemstones, while the ring company excels in crafting rings. If you want the best combination of gemstone quality and ring craftsmanship, bringing your ring to us will ensure that you receive top-notch finishing touches and value.
2. What distinguishes Zachary’s Jewelers' gemstone quality from others?
At Zachary’s Jewelers, we focus on offering natural gemstones of superior quality and value. Our long-standing experience and dedication to midshipmen ensure that you receive the best possible gemstones to complete your class ring, enhancing both its beauty and significance.
3. How do
I order my class ring if I choose Zachary’s Jewelers for my gemstones?
Easily! And, our
team will happily walk you through the process. From the ring company, you will
order a free synthetic stone, often a black onyx ; an open back
so that a natural gemstone will fit in your ring and no dividers as we
can provide and set them for you complimentary when you spend over $200.
4. How does the process work in having my gemstone set into my class ring by Zachary’s?
Once your class ring arrives from the ring company typically in late February or March, you will bring it to Zachary’s. There may be a drop off date/time at the Mid Store or you can drop it off at 100 Main Street any day of the week. We are open every day until 5pm. Once we receive your ring, we will inspect it to make sure it is perfect for you, and we will confirm that the size is correct. We generally quote up to 4 weeks for the gemstone to be set, along with any detailing, gemstone dividers setting, and repolishing. We will contact you when your ring and appraisal are both complete and ready for pick up.
5. Will I still have a warranty if I choose to get my gemstone(s) from Zachary’s Jewelers?
Absolutely! If you select your class ring gemstones from Zachary’s Jewelers, you won’t lose your warranty. In fact, you’ll receive an enhanced warranty through us. We provide all the same services as the ring company, but conveniently on Main Street.
6. What does the warranty cover in terms of loss or theft?
Our warranty, like the ring company’s, does not cover loss or theft of your class ring gemstone. The ring company offers a separate ring loss protection plan for three years, but this is only for the base ring and not the gemstone. We encourage you to have insurance to cover these scenarios. In fact, we will provide you with a complete appraisal that details not only the gemstone(s) but also your ring. This is a document you should send to USAA so that you can have your ring insured immediately upon receipt.
7. Is it necessary to carry insurance on my class ring?
Yes, it is highly recommended to carry insurance on your class ring. While our warranty covers many aspects of ring maintenance and repair, insurance will cover what warranties cannot, such as loss, theft or accidents/damage. We will provide you with all the necessary paperwork to obtain the right insurance for your ring.
8. Can you tell me about the 20% discount and free dividers?
Yes, we offer 20% off every gemstone purchased from us if paid in full by November 1st. In addition, we will provide complimentary (if you spend over $200) diamond, emerald, sapphire or ruby dividers that we will handset replacing the star dividers should you choose.
9. How can I set aside and pay for a gemstone for my class ring?
When you find the gemstone that you love and want to set it aside so that no one else can have it, you simply need to put down a 50% deposit. We can also send you (or your parents) a link for payment so that you can pay online. As long as you pay the total price by November 1st, you will also be able to take advantage of the 20% discount and free dividers as noted above.
10. What if I change my mind?
We will fully refund your deposit 100% if you change your mind prior to November 1st. Once we set the gemstone into your class ring or cluster design, you may be responsible for a portion of the costs.
