Wow! Is it February already? Where did January go? We are officially into the second month of 2017 and for some that means Birthday... in all the chaos of new years resolutions you may not have had time to pick out the perfectly thoughtful gift you wish you had. Never fear, we have you covered with ideas for everyone. Luckily, February's birthstone is amethyst, a hugely popular gemstone in a regal shade of purple. Some of our favorite designers already utilize amethyst.
We love that Lisa Nik even has stunning options with the alternative birthstone Green Amethyst!
Do you have a Gent who loves to look sharp? Alor has increddibly debonair cufflinks featuring Amethyst, Diamonds and their signature Nautical Stainless Steel Cable.
If designer jewelry just isn't your thing... there is still time to custom design the perfect piece of jewelry for those babies celebrating later in the month or for those who don't mind waiting for the perfect match. ;)
If you are more in the market for something personalized without the Amethyst, consider zodiac signs from Alex Woo.
Do you have an epic idea we didn't mention? Email us your ideas at ZacharysSocial@gmail.com or stop by and see your favorite team member in store!
Each year, Zachary's customers pull out all the stops for epic proposals from sea to shining sea. As we look back on 2016, we would be looney if we didn't recognize our favorite proposal abroad! If one city in the world were to be named the capital of romance, Paris is bound to top the list. On August 7th, 2016 Richard brought Paris to a knee for Caroline in the most unforgettable single birthday a girl could dream of.
In His Words:
This past Summer, I proposed to Caroline in front of the Eiffel Tower on August 7th, 2016. This is Caroline's birthday so I had a bunch of surprises for her before it culminated in the proposal. We started off the day by getting some breakfast at a cute patisserie near our apartment, and then we took the Metro over to the Eiffel Tower. I had made lunch reservations at the award-winning Michelin Star restaurant Le Jules Verne, which is located on the second level of the Eiffel Tower. We had a delicious 6 course meal that included crab meat, steak and potatoes, and delicious berry sorbet to name a few of the items. We walked around the Eiffel Tower's second level before taking our own personal lift back down to the ground floor. Caroline and I walked across a nearby bridge over the Seine River to reach the area I had planned to meet our wonderful photographer Gloria Villa that works for Kiss Me in Paris. When we reached our location, I saw Gloria in the distance and I proceeded to get down on one knee and tell Caroline how much I love her and want to spend the rest of our lives together. Gloria captured the moment perfectly and we spent the next hour taking amazing photographs nearby. Each second spent together was even more magical because we were now engaged. After our time ended with Gloria, we went to a park close by so we could call our parents and siblings to tell them of this magnificent occasion. Afterwards, we walked to the Arc de Triomphe and down the busy avenue of Champs-Elysees. We made a couple of stops a long the way such as the Disney Store and Laduree, where we enjoyed some celebratory champagne and macarons. We took the subway back and nice relaxing evening while enjoying the new life of being engaged. The day was absolutely perfect and I know we wouldn't change one thing about it. I chose to propose in Paris because it is Caroline's favorite city in the entire world. She would get teary-eyed just thinking about being able to spend time together there. When we finally decided last year to go to Europe, I knew this would be the perfect place to do it. The proposal would combine some of her favorite things like Paris, food, and me, so nothing could beat it. It is a memory we will cherish for the rest of our time. The next time we make it back to Paris, we will definitely go back to the place where we became engaged and share many laughs and tears reminiscing about such a magical moment in our lives.
Why we Love it!
Audrey Hepburn said it best, "Paris, is always a good idea!" As much as we love spontaneous romance we always love to see a great plan come together. Richard thought of everything. He wrote a fairytale and waltzed Caroline straight through it page by page. We here it all the time in business, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail" and if this proposal is any sign of the future ahead for Richard and Caroline they will have a storybook life with perfectly curated moments of joy and love.
Congratulations Love Birds! Thank you for choosing Zachary's Jewelers.
Twenty-sixteen, was filled with weddings dressed in Zachary's rings but one imparticular stands out amongst the crowd. On a magical day at Hevadu Vineyard Estates in Malibu, California a former Navy Midshipman, named Brandon married a stunning blonde beach volleyball player named Sophie. Naval Academy weddings always exude a certain old hollywood magic but this one was truly a fairytale!

At the beginning of a new year, people always have feelings about the year before. For some it was a year to never be forgotten, a year to be celebrated forever. Here is a look at one of our favorite proposals from 2016.

How it happened in Scott's Words:
"After hiking in the Shenandoah in the evening, I found a nice overlook in the dusk that seemed promising (I knew this is how I wanted to propose, just didn’t know the exact spot). Under the guise of taking a self timed couple’s photograph, Kristin set the camera to count down from ten seconds and then take ten photos, one per second. When she walked over to pose, I kneeled down and proposed! There were a series of 10 shots that show her surprise and eventually joy and a kiss!"
Why we love it:
Scott and Kristin prove that a perfect proposal doesn’t have to be elaborate. Amidst all the flashmobs, helicopters and full blown movie productions we see circulating under the hashtag #ProposalIdeas, a guy can really get overwhelmed with how or how not to propose. But just like "There's no wrong way to eat a Reeses..." Proposing is not one size fits all. The question and the answer are what will truly last a lifetime. Scott kept it classic, simple and intimate... And guess what?
She said "Yes!"
It's January and that means it's a New Year but that also means despite the recent holiday gift exchanges some January babies are in need of more gifts! Don't let the January baby on your list know that you are completely fatigued from holiday shopping... Get that January born loved one something just as great as if their birthday wasn't directly after the holidays. At Zachary's some of our favorite designers have stunning jewelry designs that already feauture Garnets, which of course is the birthstone of the month!
Fun Fact: You may recognize Garnet as a deep reddish purply color, but then there is a random green ring in the bottom right corner... Garnets actually come in many colors but some of the most prized colors are Green and Orange. When Green, garnets might go by the names of Tsavorite or Demantoid. When Orange, garnets may be labled Mandarin Garnet or Spessartine. So if you thought you didn't care for Garnets... I bet we can find you one to absolutely adore!
If you are loving Garnets but want something a little more custom than our designer selection, talk to your favorite Zachary's team member to design the perfect piece of jewelry for any age, or stylista.
For a simpler side of January gifting consider a Zodiac pendant from Alex Woo. They come in Silver, 14k Gold or Diamond. The best part about any of Alex Woo's designs is how chic and interpretive each pendant is.
And of course, when all else fails... Reach for the Diamond Studs! They are never a bad idea.
"She has diamond studs."
"Then get her bigger ones."
Happy Birthday January Babies and Peaceful Gifting to those who love one!
